Parliamentarian and Propaganda Secretary of the Peoples Liberation Front (JVP) Vijitha Herath yesterday said that the month-long campaign would commence with the participation of JVP leaders at district level presiding over ‘Janahamuwas’ under the leadership and guidance of party leader Somawansa Amerasinghe.
Party activists would also go from house to house to distribute leaflets informing the people of the implications the country would have to face internationally at 22nd UN Human Rights Council sessions in April due to anti-democratic actions of the government .
Herath said they would create awareness amongst the common man on how the corrupt practices and wasteful expenditure of the government had resulted in them having to bear the burden of the spiraling cost of living.
He said that the government had acted undemocratically in allowing the police to hold any individual in custody for 48 hours on mere suspicion of being involved in a grave crime, as well as in forcibly removing the Chief Justice from office.
